For all of our cognitive immensity, and our seemingly infinite emotional capacity, when any of us looks out over any sprawling landscape, whether it be the vastness of nature beyond a mountaintop upon which we stand, or the glorious urbanness of the surrounds of the high-rise in which we live, we ALL begin to experience something universal...how small and insignificant we and our existences are in the wholeness of everything...
My Nature...
I can't help but say charged and devisive things. As I corresponded to a colleague last evening, it is in my nature to do so, to create ripples in the water. I am not a an anything-monger, an anything-professor...I simply wish to tell people the way that I think things are, which is far closer to the truth than ANY media outlet will give them. I want to be an example of the type of honesty the world should exhibit, after all, without honest communication, what have any of us got these days. Can you remember a time when you didn't crave honesty from someone... anyone?

Ravens News

The Baltimore Ravens, on March 13th, announced that record-holding running back Jamal Lewis would be re-signed by the team. Lewis had a career-low 906 rushing yards last season, but this is believed largely due to knee surgery that he had in the off-season...which happened to coincide with a prison term and time in a halfway house. Since Lewis doesn't have anything like that on his agenda for this training season, he should be back up to par for kickoff 2006.
A survey I hope at least 2 people will take...
I'm reasonably sure I don't get a lot of hits here, but hopefully at least 2 people will participate in this survey, via replies.
1) How long can I keep this blog free of politically charged content?
2) At what price do I keep this blog free of politically charged content?
3) Why are people's political views and perspectives used to judge their overall character?
4) Who wants to see me create a clever slogan, not to be unveiled on this blog?
Thanks in advance for your responses. I'm sure they'll prove most helpful.

H5N1

While it might not be considered fun by most people, one of my pet projects is to monitor the spread of the deadly strain of the avian flu, H5N1. Its spread is accelerating, having come to 20 of its confirmed 45 nations (as well as the so-far-unconfirmed Ethiopia and Pakistan) in the first 75 days of 2006. This is not really of large concern considering the disease, in its current manifestation, has only killed 98 of 177 people it has infected worldwide since 2003. However, as anyone with a basic understanding of biology understands, all that has to happen for this to turn into a global pandemic is for a person with a conventional flu to contract the H5N1 strain and have them recombine within them. That person would likely spread the newly mutated virus to everyone they contacted, and so on. The rest of the story is not so hard to imagine.
I suppose, at this point, it is just a matter of whether or not the bug gets us before we do...
